Furious 7
Show Notes Transcript

This is the big one. The one that crossed the billion dollar mark and where we unfortunately lost Paul Walker while the film was still being made. In this episode, Mike and Anthony discuss Furious 7, where Jason Statham is the new badass and out for revenge on what the team did to his brother. There's more crazy action, new cameos, and a whole lot of what the heck just happened moments. Listen to the guys discuss the ups and downs, and how Paul Walker's death changed the movie itself, and also how it may have impacted the overall box office numbers.

But let he's like no, no, let me do it. I talked to you. He died. Three and then he wakes up.

Michael:

Welcome to franchise, Fridays on Mike and Anthony Soda Pop Culture Club. As you know, me and my co host Anthony.

Anthony:

I don't have friends. I got family.

Michael:

Right started tackling the Fast and Furious franchise. But before we get to that, don't forget to visit our website Soda Pop Culture Club comm where you can buy some merch, listen to every episode, make movie suggestions, and even join our Patreon and all that great stuff. Also, make sure to follow subscribe and rate our podcast. And it would be super if you would share it with your friends because you know they need love too. And I just want to let you know we're on a great one. Now what movie what movie? Are we on now? Do you want me to tell them? Do you want me to tell them how to do it, motherfucker.

Anthony:

All right, go ahead. one job to do. And this is it. Let me do it. Thank you. This is the one the most famous infamous installment of the series. Anybody that knows these films knows that Paul Walker passed away tragically while filming this not actually while filming it. But during the time of filming this film, this is furious seven, aka the Fast and Furious Part Seven.

Michael:

That's right. So what I like to say I have a little something for that. Because I'm I'm kind of a crazy person. Kind of so what you need to do is Oh, did I hit the wrong one? There we go. No, I'm hitting the wrong ones. Oh my gosh. So get ready for insane stunts and heartfelt goodbyes. That's what we've got. Right? insane stunts and heartfelt goodbyes. And

Anthony:

high production value. Not the movie. No, this

Michael:

there is one thing that I am great at. It is production. Actually, I'm great at what the grease to re production pre production. Yeah. That's what I'm good at. Okay.

Anthony:

You are? You have one child. Yeah, well,

Michael:

that's the only one I tried. So there we go. I'm pretty good. So, before we get any further, let's, uh, we want to get you in. Do you want to give us an opposite of this? Or do you want to just go let's go into the

Anthony:

well, basic synopsis. Okay, I'll just tell you, at the end of six back to 1327. Everybody's good to go families all their time to live normal lives again. But oh, no, Sean's got a brother who's really fucking pissed off and want some revenge. So now, gotta get real. Gotta get the team together and get back in the cars. And that's pretty much your synopsis.

Michael:

That's right. That's right. So without further ado, I'm gonna hit in our first section. That's our Rotten Tomatoes section. I'm gonna hit that thing. All right, so you know what I'm gonna ask you and we net we have a number one budget, baby. What is it?

Anthony:

Let's see. guys say 260 million.

Michael:

That's a little high actually. It It has a fluctuation it doesn't give a hard number and like I said, Sometimes that's because they don't know the exact cost of advertising. I think that's what it is. It was between 190 and 250 million. Okay. So you were close, but you're a little over now. You know? This is a big movie. So how much do you think of made how much it's

Anthony:

gonna throw out 1.2 because I know it hit a billion I just already knew that I'm gonna say 1.2 billion

Michael:

here's the thing it did 1.516 okay Dalian at this thing good real money. It actually. But the sad thing is it came out like it. It was pretty it's the largest had the largest opening I think ever for like this type of movie. So it's pretty it was big. Let's put that way. It's big. is big. So knowing what you know about this movie, what do you think the critics thought?

Anthony:

I'm hoping it's bad because there's a lot wrong with it. movie. Oh, wow.

Michael:

okay to me little early little early

Anthony:

or not, I don't care. I'm gonna, I'm gonna say it's fucking low because this is not a good movie. I'm just because I'm thinking we're at Part Seven now. I understand everything going on with Paul Walker passing away and you know what they had to do to complete this movie. But I also watching it thinking this movie changed a lot because of that, and the movie suffered quite a bit. You don't? I don't think you have everything that was it wasn't working the way it had in the previous couple films. I'm gonna say critics were low on this 37

Michael:

Wow, okay, you are way the fuck off? Am I 82? Seriously the critics? Oh, fuck. So knowing what the critics think, what do you got? The audience thinks?

Anthony:

I still don't as the audience myself, I'm not a fan of this one. But, but it's the audience. So they paid a billion and a half dollars to go see it. So it's got to be 89. Actually, it's identical 82 is it? Yeah.

Michael:

So I will give you some reviews. Alright guys, you need them. The positive one, which I'll give you first because I know you love positive things. Scott Weinberg of the Nerdist. He says the filmmakers are well aware of how silly this franchise has become. They're more than happy to keep the good times rolling just so long as they can keep finding new and amusing ways in which to drive cars irresponsibly, and destroy buildings that will I think that's a good as a solid. I'll say it's a positive review.

Anthony:

We no bullshit. We're just gonna keep doing it.

Michael:

Yeah, if we watched f9 Okay. We're gonna do that one. I promise. We've he's now said we are. So we're still there right now? Yes. So, all right. So Mary Ann Johnson, of the flick philosopher. She says this movie is too long, too convoluted, too sentimental, and too ridiculous. Some will say those are good points. Will they embrace the homoeroticism to? I don't know. I'll leave that there. I don't know exactly where that's going. Just got throw it out there. Yeah, you know, leave it there. Just gonna leave it there. So um, so let's get into this. So this is where we're going to read sections of the movie and we're going to tell you what your thoughts are on those. Do you want to go first or me?

Anthony:

I'll let you go first this time.

Michael:

All right, here we go. After defeating Owen Shaw and his crew and securing amnesty for their past crimes, Dom Brian and the rest of their team have returned to the United States to live peaceful, normal lives again. Brian begins to accustomed accustom himself to life as a father, while Dom tries to keep ledi to help let he regained her memory. Meanwhile, Owens older brother decherd breaks into the secure Hospital in London, where the comatose own is being held before breaking into DSS office in Los Angeles to extract profiles of Dom's crew. After revealing his identity. decherd throws down with Hobbs and escapes when he detonates a bomb that severely injures Hobbs. Tom later learns from his sister Mia that she is pregnant again, and convinces her to tell Brian however, I let her bomb sent from Tokyo explodes and destroys the Toronto house. Oh my gosh, was it was tragic. Just seconds after hon. A member of Dom's team is apparently killed by decherd and Tokyo. Dom travels to Tokyo to reclaim hahns body and acquires personal items found at hahns crash site from Hans friend Shawn Boswell. Your favorite character in the whole franchise.

Anthony:

Totally. I love how you now change this to where apparently killed by Decker see, you know,

Michael:

this Yeah, apparently. But the new information changes all the time. Yep. They do, how they make it how they want. Um, I do like how to get you know, the the one first thing this movie does, though, after after we get through the Shah fight and all that stuff. Actually, before that, we get to go to racing. We can see some street racing, race wars, race wars. Yeah, we get back to race wars. And I always thought that, you know, they started that shit. Yes, as he says it right there. Why didn't they just make money off of that legit business, just calm the fuck down.

Anthony:

Maybe they weren't making enough money? I guess not maybe then racehorse who you don't know what they're charging for tickets and shit. And you think I mean, the real the real money is when they're racing each other like holding up the cash.

Michael:

Like let's make it interesting maybe or it's that they you charge people admission into the race wars. And once they're in there you're the only one selling water in the desert. Yeah, charging five bucks a bottle of water bottle. sure you're gonna make some fucking money.

Anthony:

Five bucks a bottle for some fucking Nestle water.

Michael:

That's what you're gonna do. And you're gonna say you can't bring your own fluids in and if you see someone bringing them in, you confiscate them, throw them out. There you go.

Anthony:

So I know you make your money. So I know you loved that though. Race wars because asked is all the other place you got gas

Michael:

is shaken and everywhere. Oh, you didn't see as many girls wrenching on cars like you didn't the other one

Anthony:

just asked us everywhere.

Michael:

just asked us in regards and races. That's about it. Yeah. But it gave us a taste of what? How this thing started. And I think that's probably the last taste you get. I mean, I mean, the next movie begins sitting out but not too much. Not the same. But you still had asked. Yeah, but it's not. But that's this is the last taste you get of like, the culture that spawned I think this whole thing. Yeah. It's I think that's it. Death rattles it's the death rattles of that culture. You know,

Anthony:

so I did hate when he's explaining to Larry that you know, we invented this. That was just kind of stupid though. The line where he's like, so nothing's familiar yet. And she's like, That's not fair. You know, it isn't. Like what's not fair about that? It was just a stupid line to me. What's not fair is he's just saying no, this is familiar yet. He's showing you shit you helped invent apparently. But watch like, That's not fair. You notice.

Michael:

Sorry. Fair, cuz you remember and I don't Well, yeah, I do. I'm seeing if you do this. I was not there. But I'm fair to help. Try and show you shit you should know. And if you don't I feel for you. Now I want to say this. Sha is a seriously bad dude. I mean, why do you destroy a whole hospital? Yeah, I have in here. Wouldn't it been much easier to just wear a moustache and glasses? You? Like, like a? I mean, you know, he he knows how to make aliases to get around. He could have made one up.

Anthony:

How secure this hospital was supposed to be? Obviously not that skirt because he tore half of it apart by himself. But yeah, was that really necessary?

Michael:

No, no, it wasn't. That's why I say he destroys a hospital because why? He's angry. And then, you know, here's the thing. Later on in this franchise, I don't know. Did you have you watched Hobbs and Shaw?

Anthony:

I'm halfway through it.

Michael:

Okay, well, I won't go any further. Yeah, just wait, I have no idea.

Anthony:

Here's that. Here's another thing right now we can point out because you know how you and I always point about point out what about the like, the people that died when all these chases and all the shits going the bodies, the bodies, the bodies? What about all the fucking people probably died because they couldn't go to the hospital because he tore half of it apart. Or beds available.

Michael:

When he's walking out. He grabs a grenade, hands it to the guy and says hold this pushes him in a chair you just saw before he pushed him behind the counter. He pushed him in that chair behind was a lady receptionist cowering. He just killed that receptionist with that grenade and no reason. He's a fucking bad dude. We're

Unknown:

coming after you. You proved your point. There. We're the ones taking care of your brother. She's like in a man.

Michael:

No, they're not all Toronto's. That's all I'm saying. They're not all family. They're not all fam. Oh man. But I'll say when he gets to Hobbs place, you know, hacking his computer there. I think Hobbs whooped his ass and you know when he did the rock bottom, you know, the big rock did the rock bottom on him. And then he's like, Oh, you know and then all of a sudden they he gets runs away cuz he's about to get get his ass kicked cuz Elena comes back. And then he has to blow the thing up. And then but but what we get is we get the same. Which is funny because when Dom did it, nothing happened. He says Alayna the same way. Dom saved Leddy flying into a car. Yes. But somehow Dom doesn't get put in a hospital. Yeah.

Anthony:

What's the difference? Oh, yeah, I did love to wear just like, break that finger. seven different ways to stick it where the sun don't shine, like the waist. You're just waiting for him to finish that you're Rudy poo candy ass like that missing right there.

Michael:

And then look away with his eyebrow up. Yes. Oh

Anthony:

yeah. actually gets hurt. Somebody fucking got hurt in this series.

Michael:

Yeah Did the rocker hurt now this is where the but this is this this is where the timeline gets fixed once the house blows up and Han gets killed the timeline is current. Isn't that crazy? Yeah boom we're now magically where we need to be it's a beautiful world that's all I'm saying.

Anthony:

I'm just the timing of that too. Like killing Han allegedly killing on and is walking away is making the phone call right when the bomb is being delivered.

Michael:

Oh yeah that's that's it well here's the thing it was it would have been nighttime in Tokyo just like it was so.

Anthony:

But seriously that makes sense. I understand that but he wasn't I mean don't you got to check the app on your phone for FedEx to see if it's been delivered yet before you actually make that phone call to know that the package is on the doorstep.

Michael:

Okay 2000 have in 2013 did they have that app working well let that grid

Anthony:

get delivered because I've gotten shipped before with mail that says unable to deliver or it says it was delivered and they actually didn't end up need to get rescan

Michael:

with the wrong fucking went to the wrong house. That what's the house number I forget it but you know, maybe 13 maybe it went to South that street in the south because you know, some streets are split you know, maybe it went to a different side but the same number looks like at 13 point West. And then he's like, he's like you don't know me but you're going and all of a sudden you see you hear explosion distance and you see shit going up. Now you never know. the wrong guy. Okay? Fucking a man who are you? But yeah, that's fucked up. But But no, that's a it caught us up. That's all I know. So you ready man? Are you ready to get us get us all going on?

Anthony:

Let's do it. Alright, so next now we've got the gang back together. Dom Brian Tez. Parker and Rowan Pierce mourn hardinges ELLs deaths at hahns funeral in Los Angeles, Dom confronts decherd and underground tunnel decherd flees when a covert ops team arrives an open fire led by a man only known as Mr. Nobody and his air base of operations in San Diego Mr. Nobody says that he will help DOM and stuffing decherd if he gets in God's eye, a computer program that uses digital devices everywhere to track down a person save its creator. a hacker named Ramsey who we will meet later is super fine. From a Nigerian terrorist named mosaic Conde. There you go. All right. Yeah. So Mr. Nobody comes in. Now. This is one of my favorite characters in the movie.

Michael:

It is mine. But one of the things one of the problems I have with a Mr. Nobody is that what it does is it legitimizes the deep pocket theory that I have in movies, you got to have this deep pocket benefactor so that you can do all the things you want to do that are crazy, right? And that's kind of what he does. He gives them everything they need. So they have all the tech they have everything they could possibly want, and do everything they need. What's wrong with that? That's what that's what he does. Well, I mean, is that what you want? You always want every movie to be neatly wrapped in a bow for you. Well, I mean, before they had to go steal $10 million, a piece from Rio and Rio. I mean, but would you

Anthony:

once you like if we had a benefactor, so we could actually do a good podcast that sounds good and is edited. Well, instead.

Michael:

Think about that. Oh, like a benefactor about that passive aggressive bullshit.

Anthony:

Would you like a benefactor? That could make us entertaining?

Michael:

I thought we were I know, right. We could be good. I am your benefactor on this podcast.

Anthony:

Oh, we have to do four fucking takes of the intro every time.

Michael:

That's right, because I have style. And I want to do it four different ways. No, you do the right way.

Unknown:

I only keep fumbling over your words. Yes, I know. I said though, right every time. I wonder how

Anthony:

many takes we have done of the the just the opening of our show. We should have kept a running title.

Michael:

I've never I mean, I have every raw recording.

Anthony:

I'm gonna start like a tally Mark thing here on my wall.

Michael:

Hey, here's the thing. You get yourself a computer that can download all these recordings. And you can go you can log in there and you can download them all and cut them and edit them and put together all that shit. It's not hard.

Anthony:

Yeah, but then it would be good and you would feel really bad worthless.

Michael:

I want to do that. No, I wouldn't I would not feel bad at all. I would not feel bad at all. Hey, um, but I will say this, your favorite character you get to see right before this is when he goes and sees a Shawn Boswell and talks to him. I don't even know why they even needed that scene. Other than to give him the necklace. Was that it? Apparently, by my guess, I mean, they just literally was the only thing you get from this, from that scene is that he gave him the necklace that later on ledi talk says, Hey, where'd you get that? You know? It's like, whatever.

Anthony:

There's a lot of stuff in this movie that's like that. They don't think they really needed but it's in there. So

Michael:

I would have to say that. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff now the but at the funeral, you know, he DOM is a little eerie when Paul when when? When Rome says I don't want any more bodies. And in Paul Walker says just one more. Yeah. Yeah. But he originally says his but he says there's just one more you're like, Oh, that's sad.

Anthony:

Says said no more funerals. bodies.

Michael:

Yeah, no more funerals. Just one more.

Anthony:

Yes. Is and that's part of the problem with this movie, too, which we'll talk later but the Paul Walker scenes because of what happened and they're, you know, they only had so much to work with. I get it. I know. I know. I know. But it's just, it's so like, because of the circumstances. He's like, just not in it the way he should be. You know what I mean? Yeah, that mess. The whole movie.

Michael:

I agree now. Yeah, well, we'll get like we said, we'll get into it later because there's more to be said. Now, when Dom runs off, and he goes and chases Shaw, that's a pretty badass car chase. Gave me a real

Anthony:

fucking spidey sense kicked and he's like, there's a car near us.

Michael:

Oh, yeah. Well, remember, we talked about that. Number four, where he has that car dar. Yes. That's Carter. Whoa, wait, Where's the car? somewhere? But but that chase had a real GTA VI because it went over that bridge. It's in Grand Theft Auto. Yeah, like it had a real vibe to it. But I was gonna say that the they they played chicken. And neither of them lost. But Shaw kind of cheated in my

Anthony:

head was that two came down to smash into each other.

Michael:

Well, to me, I see why Dom would do it. Dom is that guy. He's ready. He's ready to meet his maker, are you? So the thing is, though, that muscle car even with that reinforced frame underneath that, whatever it was that vanquish whatever it was, I think that muscle cars mass would have destroyed it. Shut up just because it's heavier. It's just made of pure steel.

Anthony:

Yeah, but and forced it.

Michael:

Yeah, yeah. But that that reinforcement wouldn't be heavy, especially if you use titanium and still be light. So the pure mass would make that car buckle. He probably wouldn't be more mass.

Anthony:

He probably used the NASA plastic. That salad spinners are made up.

Michael:

It's probably the same magical things that they rub their bodies with. So they don't get injured. When the oil. Yeah, baby oil baby. Yeah, yeah. And my other problem is Mr. Nobody does show up. And he lets Shah go and he's like, No, I just saved your life. But I'm thinking, yeah, but you could have just killed him. That would have been great. No, because

Anthony:

then he doesn't have Dom to get him God's i

Michael:

i saying I have to I haven't here he probably is using him as a carrot. That's what it is. Yeah, too. So which means he's the shit, mister. Nobody knows how to manipulate everyone. Oh, he does. Yeah. And you know, he's so good. He's so good. Why, how is he so good? That when he takes Dom back to a secret layer,

Anthony:

what does he have waiting for Dom? Well, he has waiting a keg of Belgian ale. But Dan Corona, man. So the bucket No, the fucking hilarious was. Yeah. Oh, man. He knows what he's doing.

Michael:

Any, he lays it all out. He talks about the God's eye candy. And he and he has and he has his team. He has this. He has a bucket of coronas. He has this team. You know, that's what it's Now that being said, the whole technology that Ramsey created is just the same shit that Batman made in The Dark Knight. Yeah, just gonna throw it out there. So this is a total ripoff to me of The Dark Knight in that particular regard.

Anthony:

This is a total ripoff of the previous six films in different ways. No, no, I

Michael:

think there's some uniqueness to it but but the but but that right there that that plotline I mean, we got that in the dark nights how you found the Joker, remember? Yeah. It's like like I don't understand like, they why they went that direction. They borrowed

Anthony:

the idea.

Michael:

That's what you call it. A borrowed it. They borrowed it. All right. Is this my turn now? Yeah, it is. Yep, go ahead. But yeah, I've been I've been right now, I've been flubbing these up so we'll give it a college. Oh, Dom Brian ledi, Roman and Tez airdropped their cars over the cases, mountains and Azerbaijan, ambush. Gioconda is convoy and rescue Ramsey and they go to Abu Dhabi and steal the flash drive containing the God's eye chip from a billionaire with odds got God's eye odds guy with the odds guy with with God's eye near telecommunications appears Dom Brian, nobody in his team tracked down a capture decherd but are ambushed by jack Conde and his henchmen and forced to flee, while Gioconda obtains God's eye as the injured Mr. Nobody calls for medical attention. The team returns to Los Angeles, where Dom plans to single handedly fight decherd alone because he's a badass, while Brian Tez Yeah, well, Lenny Brian Tez and Roman resolve to protect Ramsey from Gioconda. Later on Brian promises Mia that he will fully dedicate himself to their family after he defeats decherd and Gioconda. Now there's a there is a lot to unpack there's and while that may not have seemed like a lot, there's a lot that goes into that's a lot of the movie. Yeah, there's lots of impact. The my favorite parts like is like when they're planning the the ambush. Yeah, one of my favorite things. Rome wants to be a leader. Yeah, he's a leader. I'm a leader.

Anthony:

That's my favorite part. Such a good leader.

Michael:

I love that. I'm a leader. I'm a leader. I'm brilliant. And then later on in like, I

Anthony:

mean, right now, I'd like to take a leadership role

Michael:

with me right now, like, you know, but hey, you know, he's right. He tells him I hit him right there. And then there and he's like, when they was how would you get there Tash? But you know, it's funny, I'm delegating there is delegate. That's the same thing fucking Dom does. You know, in the Alaska movies, he'd be like, Okay, it's time to do this. And you'd say, okay, GSL Han blah, blah, you're up, you know? What's your name? The Gina Geez. Oh, hon. Gina, you're up and you know this person you're up to do these tasks. So he he obviously delegates. You don't get buried in the details. You just you pay with a big brush and let the yeah people who know how to do the detail. Do the detail. Let them tell you Drax? That's right, man now, right

Anthony:

airdropping the cars. I see. That's awesome. You have a note that says that it is ba I have one that says it is BS. I don't think it's knockin seriously. cars with parachutes

Unknown:

that can't steer in the air being able to land on a road.

Michael:

Well think of it this way, the way that is possible. If you assume that the whole world is mapped in with coordinates for GPS. And there is a.on a map? Yeah. And you have and you have a GPS thing in your parachute. That can make it tilt one way or the other in order to get to a desired location. And it knows when it's getting closer to its dot. I see that possible. Like it's, it's going to it's it's going to lower and raise those strings in order to get itself to the right moment where it's closest to the dot that it's supposed to go to. Wow, cracker. See, I just explained it to you now get the fuck off my porch.

Anthony:

You're one of those dipshits like No, man, Wrestling's real. Oh, yeah, I mean, that stuff really hurts. It's real. It's not fake. George

Michael:

Deanna George the animal Steele was my favorite back then. Because he had a hairy back. That was because he had the green tongue and eat the turnbuckles and I like leaping Lanny poffo because he he was the poet. And he throw the Frisbee out to the crowd. He was that was actually Randy Savage. His brother, I believe. So yeah, it's good stuff. Sorry. I don't know. All right, anyway.

Anthony:

After bullshit stuff that could never fucking happen without killing half of them. At least.

Michael:

I liked it. I think it was great. I don't know about the believability. I'll give you that. I mean, hitting the convoy was epic, but just I'm just telling you that there's a way to explain away things, but that doesn't make that's all I'm saying. Now,

Anthony:

what's really cool stuff so good job.

Michael:

You know, they have their whole little rehearse. sequence where they use the one car is the shield and they do all their stuff. What's really unbelievable is when Brian gets on the fucking thing. His martial arts skill is way better than

Anthony:

he's been practicing.

Michael:

I mean, it's like it's like,

Anthony:

when is he doing this? Because he's a fucking soccer mom now.

Michael:

Yeah, he's driving a blue minivan to school and doesn't even know how to open the fucking side door. And he's obviously pretty rip because the My favorite thing is when the thing gets knocked off the cliff is it's going off the cliff. He's hanging on dangling off the the bus. Yeah, it did crash it and he's dangling and he's hanging off thing and he has to climb up. You know how ripped you'd have to be in it. How good a shape for the other side? Yeah, climb down and go up over the thing and I mean, those those fucking Ninja Warrior type shit right there.

Anthony:

Oh, this is like, when which which episode or which? Was it four or five Where? They're in the cars going off the cliff. Then they jump off the cars to land in the water

Michael:

live. Okay, that's five. That's awesome stuff. That's a great movie. I like five.

Anthony:

I know you do you like them all.

Michael:

I don't like them all. That's not true.

Anthony:

You like three a fucking nerd.

Michael:

I know. I gave it an average score. You are the dipshit you're you're stupid. That's okay. Real. I was keeping it real. Keep it real for Who? Me and the listeners. Okay. I do. You know, there's only one sane person in this group though. In this group. Rome who was like I'm not doing it. I'm just gonna stay up here. And they get his ass off there anyways.

Anthony:

Sorry. I can't do it. Yeah, I'll stay up here with the pile.

Michael:

I'd say a period. It's like Dom's, like Tash and he hits a thing and then makes them go out that but his his his fall was worse, wasn't it? Because his wasn't controlled because he didn't back out on his own and let the car naturally right lift him out and tilt to the right angle. He was he was doing one of those flat spin twisty things like you would tell simulators. Yeah, you got caught them Joe. It's true. That wasn't even that nice because he was also twisting. It was more like those things you get in to to simulate being out of control and space you know? Yeah. Those Yeah, that's what it was. Yeah, he got the worst of it because of that. Sucks to be him I guess. So the spoiler grab. Like we talked about just a second ago Brian climbing around the bus. Yeah, he grabs a spoiler Right. Yeah. Yeah. Now here we go. So Dom in his car that's a baby fashion or what do you say demon love child of these two vehicles? Yes. So he has the standoff with pecan day and goes down the mountain. So what's crazier? Dom's rolling crash dive down the mountain. Or Brian spoiler grab

Anthony:

easier or less believable? Less believable. I can't pick one they're both fucking done neither okay through that. Yeah, Dom driving off. Fucking cliff. Yes, that was

Michael:

pretty crazy. Or Or let's go back another

Anthony:

I don't think it's not see here's the thing. Dom whenever he he fucking crashes in a fatal crash every fucking movie and walks away from it so that whatever you can lump that in,

Michael:

that's a second one this movie chickens. Fucking doing that

Anthony:

though was Leddy being able to drive and be able to get the spoiler right there at the edge of the cliff for him to grab on his total bullshit.

Michael:

That was the trailer though for this movie. Remember seen on TV? That was like the big Yeah, that was the big thing. But you know, I don't know what Yeah, I was like both of them are insane. Although How about you go with Dom ledi catch? Or Brian spoiler grab wouldn't you know number six, and catching on to your Brian spoiler grab, you know, that's, that's that's what you'd have to look at there. That's the host of those are redonkulous little bit a little bit crazy. After they get down the mountain with that whole thing. And then they and what's their name comes through Ramsey and it's like Brian's the one fucking saying all right. Do Bob is uh, is he a fucking doctor too? Is he like, not only is he the, like, obvious military trained guys. He also the medical professional in this group?

Anthony:

Probably.

Michael:

No, well, I guess. Okay, I guess that's what you think. Okay. I think he was. Okay.

Anthony:

He's a martial art. Doctor now.

Michael:

I'm sure. I'm sure he has other talents too. He's probably a weapons expert. That we're at.

Anthony:

Yes. Yep. All right lover. For me, I have another kid.

Michael:

Yeah. Yeah, he knows how to do the re production. Alright. So yeah, but I do like when Ramsey gives the explanation of teams and once again, I just feel Rome is becoming the best character in the series. I don't just oh you don't you don't like, like, what she's like alpha Miss alpha and she's like Joker he's like wrong. Double Alpha Man candy. Yeah.

Anthony:

You know what I'm about as sick of Rome's comedy in this as I am of the stunts. Oh my gosh, I hate him. Oh, hate him. No, no, I don't hate him in the movie. But I'm just like, this stuff. They the stuff they write in for him is just not that funny. Some of it is double alpha, like me. Going back and forth is funny. But some of the stuff they give him is just like, it's it's getting old. Yeah, that's all.

Michael:

Yeah. Yeah. But I just thought that was funny. I guess you do. Okay, so moving on. So then that she informed them that she sent her chip off to a guy. So this is where we get to Abu Dhabi zabi. They have to they basically are told they have to go to the top of this skyscraper and get this chip out of this car in a lot in a locked vault because the guy never takes a supercar out of the vault. And that's totally sad. But what I think is great when they first pull up, they all pull up in the supercars and then there's one dodge fuckin charger. How does that car in any way feel? It's in the class of the other ones that just pulled up. That's what I want to know. Like, oh my gosh, I guess Dom gets to drive a Merc and main

Anthony:

drive but Dom drives

Michael:

I don't know if we've seen him drive a supercar.

Anthony:

Well in the first one who drove his red car is St. Rose their member? Oh, yeah, yeah, no. But after that, that was it. Yeah, that's pretty much dodge chargers Detroit muscle.

Michael:

So they come up with the plan to go up there and get this and this is where you you I think you love all of these sequences because you love Rome and he tells they tell Rome to shine brightly. Yes. Birthday. I'd have to say, but I love it that the room reacted exactly how it should like no one knew what the fuck this guy was. Right? No one was saying anything. Like it really was like, a nice guy. And they just let him go on

Anthony:

to me. That's no, that's security grabs him right there.

Michael:

You think so?

Anthony:

I do. Yes. There's crazy guy in the middle. The party security needs to grab him and take him out

Michael:

grabbing the DJs mic. Don't turn off them. Yeah, cuz the DJs paid to be there. Probably.

Anthony:

Yeah, this is the kind of place where somebody can just do that.

Michael:

He shines bright. But my one of my least favorite things in this movie is Ronda Rousey. Agreed. This dog thinks the movie, too, but that doesn't. That to me isn't a problem. Like she I know. But this is like she is muscular and strong and could be is believable in that way.

Anthony:

This is where how you get about the technology in the movie. Uh huh. Like a data because they don't have smartphones. All this? This dates this movie because it's like, oh, it's the one when Ronda Rousey was popular.

Michael:

I mean, she's still popular, and if I bet she could be.

Anthony:

I mean, she's, what's she doing now? That's just the thing. I have no clue. I remember when she was gonna Don't make me there. We're supposed to remake Roadhouse with her. And that fell apart. Oh,

Michael:

that would be so fucking awesome. Oh, god, what are you talking about? That would be that would be like

Anthony:

you think it would be awesome after seeing her in this? You think she'd be?

Michael:

Hell? Yeah, man. I want to see her now. As in Roadhouse. So let's see. What's she doing these days? Is she doing film? So you had to ask me? I think she's not in WWE. I don't know what she's doing these days. Exactly. Just living 2019

Anthony:

she's living off of royalties from furious seven.

Michael:

She's been in WWE stuff. Yeah. But not recently. Okay. Yeah. But, but 2020 as you know, she was horrible. She's, she had her but she's still being a thing as and i and i don't like when people put just because she got beat when she was being her best. Like, she's still as bad as when she was good. When she stopped. She was great. And that's why I say I can't Yeah, I can't fault this movie for putting her in it. I can but her acting though I can't fault them for the fact. When she says her one line I know. It is the worst. It's horrible. I mean in her looks, she doesn't look natural. She doesn't look comfortable in her own skin. She does look comfortable dress. No, she does not. She does not isolate. I was thinking that when I was watching it earlier, you saw me watching it when you came on. When I saw her I was thinking why wasn't she Why did they just put her in a uniform like everyone else?

Anthony:

I was saying that but it was a party though. So they all had to be dressed for the party.

Michael:

No, but your uniform people around her whites

Anthony:

but not the women.

Michael:

Well, it is it is a bar. So yeah, now but she wouldn't be wearing that and that she would be wearing that

Anthony:

over. Here's the thing you got lady facing off against Ronda Rousey two women that clearly do not look comfortable in dresses. They do not look like the comfortable and dresses.

Michael:

And one of them I want to know where did she learned to fight because fucking lady, what do you wear to

Anthony:

become a few films now?

Michael:

Six, six. She wasn't before that.

Anthony:

Well, though, and the first one when she punched out. Jai Trask brother. Yeah, but she could throw punch I'm saying, but then I wonder if like she got more training when she was with Shaw.

Michael:

Do you think Oh, so you're saying that there's a blip? After for? When but how much could you have gotten that? It's so ingrained in you like the add on? No. And then but here's the thing, not only she learned to fight, where did Tesla learn to fight? Yeah, cuz because when that security guy comes in, boom, done. Like fight. They all

Anthony:

like got some martial arts training at some point. Yeah, probably. It's bad. They probably took classes at the wire or something.

Michael:

Yeah, you're right. They would do what I did. Daniel. Yeah. That's the day they went to Miyagi. Yep. And LA. That's because it's out there. You know? Yeah, that's bullshit. So they went to Cobra Kai. So now when I get to the part of this movie that I think is awesome. Okay. When they take the car out of the vault, yeah. And somehow, here's what I want to know. How did Sean know where they were? Sean knows everything. That's what I always wondered, though. How did he know? Because he doesn't have God's eye. And he, it's not like they leave a trail of breadcrumbs saying Come here. I mean, how does he know where they went?

Anthony:

He knows everything. So also before they take the car out, yes. So Vin Diesel can just pick up a car and fucking hold it there for 10 minutes.

Michael:

I'm gonna say this. Here's what I'm gonna say. Those supercars are made of super light materials. And if the engines in the back using it like a lever, I think he could if it's made anywho I know. And that's how it also could do the next thing I like, which is jump between skyscrapers. Come on, man. Yes, come on, man. Three. We had

Anthony:

to drive through three.

Michael:

Tell me that wasn't awesome, though. Oh my god. You can't tell me that. That's not eye candy. At least No, it is.

Anthony:

Again, like, ah, of course. You hit the windows. You didn't you know, Miss and hit the wall between the windows and follow you

Michael:

guys to spend a little disbelief.

Anthony:

A lot of disbelief to watch this fucking series a lot. All right, I'm hanging on by a thread. All right, which currently I think a thread would be enough though to swing my fuckin Gods back up onto the cliff if I needed it to according to these movies.

Michael:

And it will and it would come off magically so that you can just

Anthony:

snap right to say land on the ground. Oh, God.

Michael:

You need to you need to take ed to remind yourself. These are rollercoaster rides. These are amusement park rides. These are not you know this is it's upon us. You and I are unreal. Okay. I know. That's the goal of if you if you try to take it seriously, then you're already lost. The ability to have fun. I don't take this seriously trust me,

Anthony:

but I have to review it to review it. So that's what I'm doing. I'm still gonna bitch about it.

Michael:

Well, you can bitch all you want. It's you just sound like a bitch. That's okay. Oh, man, speaking my truth. speak your truth sucks. So sad. I loved it. I love that I think. And one of the things is is if you remember earlier in the movie, when Brian's putting his son into the car, yeah, son throws the car out the door. out of his car out of the minivan says he says don't do that cars don't fly. So when he's jumping from skyscraper to spark skyscraper, you hear him yell cars don't fly cars off. Like that's a little they actually did that on purpose. I think I I think they did. Um, so they get the chip though. And Ramzi becomes to Dom what Morgan Freeman was the Batman, so we get the full loop of the Batman thing, and finds where dudes hanging out. But here's what I don't understand. So they find Shaw. And yeah, they take the chip, and the thing that tells them where he's at with them. Why would you do that? Knowing that this was the technology that could in the world why wouldn't you go you know what, we'll just surround the place and take our chances that way because what it is

Anthony:

before they get there, and they got to keep keep looking.

Michael:

did so. So what did they can look again? They can find them again? God's eyes that good? You'll find them again?

Anthony:

Yeah, and then if you go to get me takes off again guy go back and get the eye and then you got fine gaming guy go do it's gonna be okay. So what

Michael:

you do is you take it, you duplicate the technology, you put it in something a little more secure, and you take it close, but not totally into the thing so that when someone gets shot, mosaic condo or Nikon de doesn't take it with them. I mean, I just don't know. Am I asking too much?

Anthony:

I'm sorry, asking your right. I do apologize that that scene is a little less believable for your standards. That one is

Michael:

when you drive a car from building the building. That's that's that's believable. But when you when you take world life threatening technology that can change the world. And has people get killed. I don't think you take that with you to your raid. You know, it's like, it'd be like taking one of those Infinity Stones. Hey, I've got one with me just in case we need it.

Anthony:

That's gonna come up in part 10

Michael:

the Infinity Stone Yeah, we're gonna. Well, you know what? No, see, here's I'm not gonna tell you about it because we're not doing Hobbs and Shaw yet, so there you go.

Anthony:

Is there gonna be a Marvel crossover with Fast and Furious? That's all I need to know.

Michael:

Because that's all it's all I'm gonna say. It was possible. Oh god. That's all I'm gonna say. Um, and in the end, who? Gioconda UCI is holding this gun sideways. Who does that to shoot accurately? Like? That's like, That looks so fake. I don't know.

Anthony:

I was horrible. That's what how y'all always used to see it in the movies?

Michael:

Yeah, but But Mr. Nobody. He's pretty fucking bad ass how he puts this little thing on and turns around to to to to to kill them all killed. Well, most of them though. He's pretty badass. He is. I like him.

Unknown:

He's awesome. He has his own helicopter. Come get him. I need one of those. To come get me and take me to you. Ah,

Anthony:

I would shoot that fucking thing down before I got here.

Michael:

But you wouldn't know where to look for it. And what would you do? How would you shoot it down when you drive your car into it? Yes,

Anthony:

I would drive my car through the helicopter. And then I would crash and get out of the car and be okay. Spoiler. Alright, we ready for the next part? Yeah, we are and it's your turn as All right. I will go temple bitch. As Gioconda pursues Brian and the rest of the team with a stealth helicopter and an aerial drone. Ramsay attempts to hack into God's eye. Hobbs discovering the situation leaves the hospital and destroys the drone with an ambulance. After breaking his cast off his arm, Daddy's got to go to work. Brian battles and kills Yukon days henchmen kit before hijacking his signal repeater tower allowing Ramsay to regain control of God's eye and shut it down. Meanwhile, domande decherd engage in another one on one brawl on top of a public parking garage. tucan day soon intervenes and attacks them both Dom uses the distraction to feed decherd by causing part of the parking garage to collapse beneath him with his feet. The street always wins. Attempts to crash his car and did you count as helicopter? He leaves a bag of grenades on the helicopter that of course Hobbs was able to fucking see from the ground and be able to shoot and blow it up. Oh that motherfucker. Brian man after Brian Hobbs let lady bring out dogs unconscious body and Brian wants to do the smart thing CPR but let he's like no, no, let me do it. I talked to him. He died. I don't do three and then he wakes up. Does that right? I remember everything. I remember when we got

Michael:

Oh man. Okay, so yeah, basically the big plan is they're going to lure them back to LA. Cuz you know, Gioconda promised to because Gioconda wants to kill Ramsey and Shaw wants to kill DOM, so they help each other make bread play a big game of hot potato with Ramsey.

Anthony:

That's pretty much what they do. She is a hot potato, that's for sure.

Michael:

Now, before that happens, though, I'm just gonna say this. He makes that call to me. Yeah. Did you hit a little bit of feels when he was talking about like, no, this could be the last time and you know they had the music in the background. Yes,

Anthony:

it's it's fucking it sucks to watch lava scenes in this movie. Yeah, it does depressing as hell. I get it.

Michael:

I get it. It's like I fell in that phone call. And he said, You know, it was the best decision you ever made was stepping into the store buying the sandwich. The worst tuna sandwich?

Anthony:

Bullshit. No one likes the tuna here.

Michael:

But, you know, it felt like he was just telling us goodbye in that scene. Yeah, that's, that's, that's why it's like, it's sad. I'm just saying that was a sales moment. It is reveals moment. Now I will say this. Another thing that's happening in this series is Ted seems to get smarter and smarter. While Rome regresses a little further, and it seems a leader. He's a leader. He's an alpha. Man candy. He has some of the best lines though. Oh, man, that was the he's also

Anthony:

got some of the worst ones. Yeah, well, that's the thing. I'm like,

Michael:

batting average seems to be really high. If you're going to do it.

Anthony:

Yeah, the writers could do better.

Michael:

Yeah, it could be written. They could look good. I mean,

Anthony:

he is like, he is the comic relief of the movie. But it needs to be better.

Michael:

And I would say that it's true. I'd say in fate that is true. I would say an F nine he's even funny.

Anthony:

I mean, it gets so repetitive because each one outs like no why are we doing this? We're doing this again. We keep good doing some stupid crazy shit. Why are we doing this? It's like every I think it's called

Michael:

it what you know and I'm just call me stupid if I if I'm you know, if you want. But I think and this is just me that they're doing what they would call in the biz A running gag.

Anthony:

I bet it's not just Yeah, no, I, I helped

Michael:

Rob go into police station and Rob Laval. The next I did some crazy shit with this thing. And then next, I'm doing this crazy shit right here. And then it goes on and on in each movie. It's like every time the crazy is a little higher. And that's what Rome is commenting on.

Anthony:

I don't think it's that I think Rome is actually the one that God amnesia instead of ledi. And he keeps forgetting he's saying this shit every movie.

Michael:

There's that too. That's true. I don't think you know. The thing is, is we all know that. That's Shaw. And this is like if this is a match of a matchup of trying to catch people in cars, SRA is no match for DOM. Dom is super driver. Like, you know,

Anthony:

yes, Dom is a movie driver in the world.

Michael:

You know that movie baby driver, baby driver just called it Dom driver and put him in the movie. Yeah. Just put him in there. He can get away from anything. But yeah, I think that was it. But I will say he learned his lesson with him when they when they do their next game of chicken. He does what he does. He loves to do best. And that's when he gets halfway there. He does that fucking wheelie.

Unknown:

Yeah. Whoa. Yep. That's pretty badass. Really? That's how you do it right there.

Michael:

And this is where we meet the guy who I think should be in streetfighter. Right. Okay. Cuz he gets out of the car with like a wrench and something else. And I think he should be of character and well, these fighting games where he's holding those weapons and beating people.

Anthony:

I think they all should with their martial arts skills.

Michael:

Well, yeah, but I think he's more of a cartoonish version of it. Right. Like, in my opinion, like he literally has no skill.

Anthony:

They should have a street fighter Fast and Furious game

Michael:

or just a street fighter download for FAS you know that? That where you download it and those characters are playable? Right, you know, that's what I'm thinking. You know,

Anthony:

they should do a Grand Theft Auto Fast and Furious edition. But within the game, you can do fight.

Michael:

They have a mini game when you go into the arcade. It's a street fighter style fighting. Yes. All the characters in there. Yeah, that would be that would be good. Right? You know, give them ideas.

Anthony:

Brian versus Mia. That's your first matchup merge.

Michael:

How can you merge $2 billion franchises like that? Oh my gosh, that would be because you know, Grand Theft Auto five is like the greatest selling game of all time. Like it. It still sells to this day. People buy that game. It's like 2011 2010 when it came out. So yeah, you're never Yeah, we're not done with that. Yeah. Furious than ever on. Oh, that's a great it's a great game. Don't be messing with that game. That wasn't ever play it.

Anthony:

Yeah, I wasn't messing with it just said they can make furious Theft Auto.

Michael:

Yeah, yeah. So basically, they played this big game of hot potato. There's some really insane stunts there. The when they pass and Ramsey around. Yeah, where they do that between the car. Hey, where they do the drift. And the intersection we go with the draft. And handoff Ramsey on that on that drift in the intersection. I mean, yeah, and Brian takes the shot with a missile. I mean, that's crazy. Right there taking that shot. But yeah, that was that was pretty fun. Then Then Hobbs. Oh, you had a

Anthony:

we skipped over the fight though. Didn't we? Brian?

Michael:

Which one? Brian have that dude, rematch? No, the suit now I have it on here. He's a super soldier now. Okay. He's barely an FBI agent when we last saw him now. He's like fucking experts in weapons and hand to hand combat. Now. I know. It's like he's

Anthony:

that guy. rematch from the bus. Yeah, to yell too slow.

Michael:

To met too slow. That that dude's funny. But that dude was a better fighter than him. He didn't beat him. Like because he was better. He got lucky and got wrapped around a spool and what's up? Yeah. I mean, and there are bodies everywhere in this movie. I'm sure there are. Oh, yes. They take down that fucking TV tower. And which pisses hos tops off the most, I'm guessing. Because you know, he's in the hospital all laid up. But that's what he's like, oh, Dom must be here. You know? Oh, man, spidey senses take Hernandez. Yeah, yeah, but then they but the, but once they do that, that's what causes that's what causes Brian to confront that soldier because they overhear them talking about it. And he says go meet him there. And that's when he gets in the fight. But when Brian beats him then he gets up there. He's using like, micro USB to plug the shit in and stuff like he's using shit that is way outdated even even then it probably would have been for what they were doing. It was really strange. Like I said, even though this movie caught up, it's still hasn't caught up, I guess. Oh, man, I love it. I know you do. So? Yeah. Yeah. I love this movie. And I hate that you hate it.

Anthony:

I didn't say hate hate this movie. I don't hate it. I hated tokyo drift. That's hatred. Okay.

Michael:

That's pure hatred. This is dislike. This is the severe dislike. Okay, so the street always wins. You had that comment there? Right? Yeah. That's awesome. The street always wins. It really was luck again. He didn't beat him. What happened? Was that happened to be a rumble going on. And he hit his foot down and I know that would fall through.

Anthony:

That really right there was a streetfighter move. Step your foot fall through the ceiling. Yeah, he

Michael:

used a special, you know,

Anthony:

vibrating floor in a special move. Smash.

Michael:

Yeah, you know, and Shaw's friends turned on him as soon as you know, they started shooting to him to me should have picked better friends. Or is what I said here. Wait, I mean, family. Friends, family. Yeah, if he would have family, he wouldn't have somebody shooting at him that he did a family but he's in the hospital. Oh, yeah. I guess well, not his mother. And. And we learned that he has a sister later, by the way. Yes. And yeah, so he has family. Fuck him. I guess the sister is not as important. At the time didn't think it was necessary to go after this. This is where Dom though. gets in his car and does the miraculous things he does right. He hits that jump that somehow is perfectly made for him. And it looks like he's gonna ram that fucking chopper. Yeah. But instead, he leaves, just bagger grenades and like you said Hobbs yeah shot with this big 357 Magnum or whatever the fuck that is. Yeah. And that blew up that blew up God's eye with it. So there were that technology went fuck them, but there are some dead bodies in this town because you gotta think Oh wait, no,

Anthony:

I don't think what happened I think while he was dropping off the grenades as soon as he let go the bag put on there he snatched God's eye

Michael:

and put it in his pocket.

Anthony:

Yes Not a shirt pocket because he only wears tank tops but his other pocket

Michael:

he put it no he did he put it under his pec muscle you know dogs would stay there no doubt could really use what a fanny pack you know what he could one that says Soda Pop Culture Club one and I know Yeah. There's not a product placement I've ever heard one.

Anthony:

Yeah, he would just say family.

Michael:

I will say this. It gets intense quickly, don't you think though, with the with Dom laying there and O'Connor coming up like you said, I'm pumping his chest. Now that I felt the acting and that was great. And it felt intense. We knew he wasn't going to die now that's why

Anthony:

it's like now

Michael:

but but it was it was pretty. It was pretty intense for the moment if it if you thought someone was gonna be leaving the franchise that would have been the one right there that moment that that would have been the one crash to do it as opposed to the 57 others that he went through a you know

Anthony:

when he rolled his car so many times that the car was gone and all that remained was the frame or the time he was in an explosion and drove out of the flaming plane. Or which other fucking crash Do you think that one would have been the way a man Come on man? Come on a helicopter that would have done it. That would have done it.

Michael:

Because it was failure. Yeah, that's it man. That's the one that's it that's even been thrown through a wall doesn't hurt. The but when but you know, obviously like you said she tells Conor quit the chest pumping. And then we get to what I would call a cheesy wedding flashback. Yeah. I thought that was cheesy that moment. It didn't land as well for me. And then she's in and he's and then once you say to her when you know you can't tell someone that they love Why didn't you tell me you can't tell someone they love you. And

Anthony:

yeah, he didn't have a ring for

Michael:

well they had those crucifixes that was their ring.

Anthony:

So much fucking money from all these heists and the drug money and all that look like it was a nice it could have been planned fucking pop for a ring for lady. I agree. Oh, tell me this was like a spur of the moment wedding.

Michael:

Well, it was right after they did that heist in a band together in their fucking film. And the Dr. Yeah, you're right. You're right. This is a started off as a there's so much inappropriateness about this relationship. And we don't know. Was he only 15 and she was 15 we don't know. I know she was 15. Or he was

Anthony:

Yeah, I think she's like a little bit younger than him. Oh, yeah. You better be second movie. I think she's supposed to be a little bit younger.

Michael:

Yeah, yeah. Definitely. I just Yeah, I don't know. Their relationship is weird. But that being said, You can't tell someone they love you. Anthony. You love me.

Anthony:

See, we can't do that.

Michael:

I can't I just did. But it didn't work. You just prove I can't make you feel it but I can tell you it.

Anthony:

Yeah. Can't make me love you If I don't.

Michael:

I know. Like you can't make me love Yeah.

Anthony:

Let's wrap this shit up. Last section.

Michael:

Is it me? Are you

Anthony:

this one do because all right. I did. I did that part. Are you ready? Yeah.

Michael:

decherd is taken into custody by Hobbes and locked away and seek in a secret high security CIA prison. The rest of the team relaxes on a tropical beach. Brian and Mia play with their son jack, while Dom ledi Roman Taj and Ramsey look on acknowledging that Brian is happily retired with his family. Dom and Brian drive away and Dan remembers all the times they had that he had with Brian. They bid each other farewell by giving one last smile and drive off in separate directions. Now this part of the movie other than putting decherd Shawn prison yeah is all contrived for feels man. This is where they use a lot of that CGI I think and

Unknown:

yeah, the brothers. Yeah, for sure. There's a lot of things where you can tell.

Michael:

Yeah, this was the this was the feel seen. I think this was even more than the one earlier. This is one. If you're wanting to be given two fields of this type, then this is the one that hits you the hardest.

Anthony:

Yes, this sucks.

Michael:

And it's never goodbye. Hmm, that hits you. Yep. And, and the thing is they they really used the music. Well, yeah, that song was huge. Do you want to how huge I'll tell you that song. See you again. It was by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie puth. Dedicated Paul Walker, it received 1 billion views on YouTube in 2015. And in July 2017 went on to become the most viewed at the time. viewed video on youtube at almost 2.9 billion views. We're talking Yep. A huge moment. I was gonna cry. feels a little bit. It's kind of sad. As you see. You see him when they drive off. They do the missing man formation. Yeah. Yeah, all of that. You know, you just can't help it. You got to feels

Anthony:

right at the end. The last four Paul, up on the screen. And that's it. That's it. Yeah. They don't

Michael:

even give you the post credits like they had. They just Yeah, they just dropped you off like a second. They left it at that. Which is good. I think they've done a very good job of sticking that and doing that well. So

Anthony:

yes, they did.

Michael:

sticking the landing as I call it, sticking the landing. All right. So I've got Oh, we've got all kinds of stuff to talk about here. Oh. This is the section where we're gonna do our biggest bang. Are you ready for your banger?

Anthony:

My banger and mash? Go ahead. Hold on. I

Michael:

got to load the sound. I forgot to load it. Okay, are you are you you said do you want me to go ahead and do mine? Are you saying Go ahead. Go ahead. This movie has so many awesome scenes I love I like parachuting cars. I love Dom rolling down the hill. I like the jump to jump from the skyscrapers. But to me, the biggest bang or craziest on has to be Brian grabbing the spoiler? Yeah, there has to be it. That's what I have for my biggest bang. Do you have something different?

Anthony:

I mean, they're all fucking insanely stupid from a believability standpoint. But I'll give you one. Okay, let me hit your thing. I mean, I'm gonna say and it's not like a big explosive stunt or anything like that. But I'm gonna say the rock falling onto the car because he actually gets hurt and in the hospital.

Michael:

It really banged him.

Anthony:

Really? actually had a repercussion for it. And maybe a concussion? I don't know. But, yes, something happened. Somebody actually got hurt doing it in the movie, went to the hospital, so I'll give it to that one. Ah,

Michael:

you're right about that. You're right about that. Okay, so we're gonna get into our six pack. I'm gonna hit it. You go first. Right? I go first.

Anthony:

All right. My first one is my dad said he kicked your ass once. Well, your dad's on a lot of pain meds. Oh, yeah.

Michael:

In the hospital. See, that was great. I enjoyed that. I got one for you. How we meet Shah in the hospital? Just how it's kind of a crazy scene. Yeah, I think I think it's cool. While there are some things I don't like about it. This is why could he done differently. It is kind of a cool way to introduce yourself as a character. How you're pretty intimidating. You kind of get you kind of learn who that person is rather quickly. Yeah, you got a good, good summarization of them. Yeah, are you ready? I'm ready.

Anthony:

Next one blast from the past Hector comes back and gets punched by ledi

Michael:

Ah, Oh, that was never good. Take a punch. Never shipped I was it was good. That was good. That was fine. Yeah, that was a good that was a good scene. That was a good scene. She got spooked. She was like a wild animal, you know? And she didn't understand who everybody was. So she had a run. Yeah, that's what she did. That's what that was. That's what she did. All right, I got another one for you. It's obvious. It's the building to building jumps. That's such an insane scene to do. Yet it has to be like the fact that they made that in a movie is pretty intense. pretty intense. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Anthony:

It's all got to say about that. Are you ready? I'm ready. My final one. What I'd say is probably the best thing about this movie, Mr. Nobody? Ah, Kurt Russell a as Mr. Nobody is epic in this movie. Love his care. All right. Love the actor. They got to play the character. He is fantastic. Anybody that it's going to have a secret headquarters with their own kegs of Belgian ale is my hero.

Michael:

Larry go. I mean, all the way you can be my heroes if he had a person making an bushwhackers and pizza all day long.

Anthony:

Exactly. That person that knew how to make pizza you mean right. Not like you. So?

Michael:

So, so Okay, um, I'm gonna go with my last one. All right, here we go. I had actually had two more, but one of them was Mr. Nobody. So I'll say the other one. And that's just the field. They stuck the landing on the fields, I think, a lot of ways. They had isolated about three scenes that it seems where they were talking directly to the audience. And it was designed to make you go Oh, no. Oh, no, you know, make you feel it. And I and I liked that that they wanted. They probably wanted you to feel what they were feeling. You know why they're making it? I'm guessing. I don't know. I think it worked. Got some feedback. I think it worked that so we're going generic. Do you want me to go first?

Anthony:

I don't care. I got some generic.

Michael:

I will. Oh, some? Then you go first. I got a couple. Yeah, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna have you go first. All right. Ah,

Anthony:

what are you doing? what I should have done a long time ago. The fucking sledgehammer to the tombstone.

Michael:

Oh, that was stupid like that. I just was they just take it out and then like, down the road,

Anthony:

like a dumb I just I was like, This is stupid. I just remember sitting there watching this like, I think out loud. I said this is stupid.

Michael:

Wow. Yeah. Tell us how you really feel. I just did it was stupid. Okay, okay. All right. I got I got you one. Here you go. Okay. I know this is gonna feel a little outdated now but why did Han have to die? Which we did? Why did the hound have to allegedly die? You know, the Tokyo drink movie was was fine. Except for the time they killed off the best character in the franchise. So that means we had at least two movies without him sans Han. songs on Yeah, you got that sounds odd. You could have said that way some more literal alliterative. Are you ready for your last one? Do you said you had another one? Or two more? Fuck you. I don't have that many. Okay, go.

Anthony:

Mia telling Brian that they're having a little girl. How do they know that? Exactly. She's like, we're having a little girl. Her belly. I mean, how much? Does it even look like? She had a bean burrito dinner. Like it's a pass. That's what I'm saying. It's like she could not have been pregnant that long. To find out the sex of the child. True, I don't think but again. Like if they're gone for a while during this whole thing. And she's holed up in that fucking mansion complex. Like, give her a little bit of a fake belly at that point or something. Give her a bump. Yeah, give her a bomb. So that I can do it. Okay. She knows the sex of the child now

Michael:

that she didn't know she was Pregnant so maybe a month or two in because she's so small, and maybe it didn't show yet you know something very much.

Anthony:

I need to see a bump. If I'm going to believe that you know, the sex of your child.

Michael:

I gotta, I gotta see the bump just like you want to see the bodies. Yeah. Do you have a Do you have another one? I got one more. Okay.

Anthony:

Actually, I've got a lot but this is just one I want to point out when Dom goes back to his garage to get his car and the shit out of it. Yeah. So and I understand controlled explosions all that but decherd Shaw blew his house into a pile of toothpicks, but the garage is fucking fine. Fuck yeah, the garage is fine. The house is now sawdust.

Michael:

You can kill people but I don't think you're gonna kill the car.

Anthony:

He blew the shit out of that house. the shit out of it. But the garage next I know absolutely unscathed with Dom's ride parked nicely. That's

Michael:

it not so much as a scratch and that's cool by me. All right, that should happen. All right. Are you ready for some facts before we rate this bitch? Yes. All right, body doubles, stunt doubles and CGI were used to complete the film following Paul Walker's death. walkers brothers, Caleb Walker and Cody Walker were among the doubles and also provided voiceover for the for the character Brian O'Connor. There's that we knew those. Now here's here's another one that you'll find interesting is some of Paul Walker's dialogue and footage was taken from previous Fast and Furious films. For example, Brian's conversation with Mia in the Dominican Republic garage is actually a deleted scene from Fast Five.

Anthony:

That is interesting as I was actually wondering about that with some of the stuff I was like, you know, did they have previous footage or just voicing by him that that they could have used from other ones that they didn't?

Michael:

Yes, Sim. Similarly, the plane conversation between DOM and Brian where they're on the plane has every shot of Walker rotoscoped from the conversation with Dom about their father's from the same film? Hmm. So it's really like they did some things? Yes, they did. The guard rail that the heroes stand near overlooking Los Angeles is the same road parking lot that Brian initially test is a clips from the first movie. The majority of Dwayne Johnson stunts were actually performed by Tonto why he read his body double and cousin. I guess you gotta have someone relative. And then. Okay, so in an interview with Vin Diesel, in an interview with Vin Diesel, he stated furious seven was for Paul, the fate of the furious is from Paul. So it makes me wonder did Paul come up with it does because I can't find anywhere? Did he come up with a plotline for it? had everybody mapped it out? Yeah. And as we were talking about this is the first sequel in the franchise to take place chronologically, after the Fast and Furious tokyo drift. As a let's see, I don't know this as a back then when this came out in 2015, this movie was at the time, the fourth highest grossing film of all time. So I don't know how it's changed. Now I haven't looked at Yeah. But, but that's pretty high. When you think about at that time, the Star Wars came out and all that,

Anthony:

right, so Oh, yeah, but those didn't. I mean,

Michael:

I've got a stat for you that you've probably never thought of. Are you ready? I'm ready. The movie arguably has the largest number of bald actors in the main cast ever involved in one film. You've got Vin Diesel, Jason stadium. Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson in djimon honsou the guy plays joke a it is barely surpassed by alien three where nearly every actor in the film was bald. What about coneheads? I don't consider all that. But there wasn't enough of them. There's like, like three of them. That was it. So I mean, what do you want?

Anthony:

Fuck you.

Michael:

The song heard during the race war scene is delirious by Steve Aoki. Here's something we didn't think that no from the movie we did. His sister Devin ioki. Played Suki, and too fast too furious, which makes sense as to why her acting was so shitty. It does. During his recovery in the hospital, hops can be seen watching a college football game. It's the University of Miami and the commentators reference number 94. This footage is of Dwayne Johnson when he played college football for the University of Miami wearing the number 94. That's funny. Okay, the final scene where Paul Walker's car veers off the road main road onto a ramp is reminiscent of the missing man for IRA Tajik, missing man formation by military pilots. Okay, that's already done. This contains numerous scenes of archive footage from Fast and Furious tokyo drift, which ties those two together. We saw like when twink was talking to Sean, and said, Hey, someone's here to see you. That's actually stuff we saw on the previous movie, and they reshot, you know, that scene there. And that's about it. That's it. Because I told you about the car flat cars don't fly things. So let's rate this bitch. Well, I'll give you right back though first. Oh, you have well,

Anthony:

whoa. It's actually just something. It's not. not directly related to the movie, but kind of. Okay, adjacent. It's interesting to me that Justin Lin, the director, yes. He actually was just filming to new heist TV show or something? I think it's gonna be on NBC and the 2021 22 season. But they were just filming in coldspring. Oh,

Michael:

so you have a connection? It's kind of like,

Anthony:

just you know, been there. Well, no, I get it. But today, director, that's cool. So they

Michael:

know other things we don't dwell on in these podcasts that these episodes we do. We don't talk a lot about who directed it and stuff. Yeah, unless it's someone important, I guess. You know, maybe we could do that more. But sometimes if we just want to talk about the movie, we don't really care sometimes about that stuff. Yeah,

Anthony:

it's just interesting.

Michael:

So yeah, that is and I may watch that. But are you ready to rate this pitch? Let's rate it up. Oh, that's mainly Are you you go on first, you go first this time?

Anthony:

Think I want

Michael:

Okay, cuz I know how shitty you're gonna be. I'm gonna be shooting okay. So when you Okay, so when you watch the series and get to this one, it is different. Because of the untimely demise of Paul Walker, it gives the movie more of a memorial feel. I feel with this. They did stick the landing the music, the imagery, they even managed to make a fun ride of a movie while doing all that. So for this? I give it 19.5 cans.

Anthony:

Whoa, that's like your highest one of the series, I think. No, it is not. It's not good. Yo, Fast Five, would you get 520? Wow. All right. Okay, I guess it's time for me to shoot in your Froot Loops are? No good. Is it right now? I hate not liking this movie. Because of Paul Walker's death. I want to like this movie, since it's the last one he did. And the biggest problem I have with it. And I understand and I'm very impressed with what they did to put this movie together. And how they were able to finish it. At the same time. Because of that, and what they had to do. It makes the movie seem completely disjointed to me. And when you combine all the bullshit and I which I know go along for the ride, but the story itself, and then the basically the lack of Paul Walker in it, where this is not how it would have been, it would have been a completely different movie. And Paul Walker's still been been alive. There's so many good things about and like you said, they stuck the landing. They gave you the fields, moments and all that. But at the same time, you have Jason Statham and Kurt Russell, who were fucking amazing in this movie, and it just didn't work. For me. There's just too much bullshit, but it wasn't cohesive to me watching and I'm just like, this is really good, but this really sucks and then you fucking throw Ronda Rousey in it. It just made for a shit tastic pile of racing fuck. I guess I give it 11 loving cans.

Michael:

That my friends is what we call a shithead. Yeah. Oh my gosh, that movie is not that bad. It is you're you're saying no. It is not. Here's the problem I have.

Anthony:

I don't care. That's my rating. Here's the problem I have. So I know you're ready to better six was a much better movie. Eight is a better movie. Seven just

Unknown:

shit the bed. You are crazy. Did I mean you're saying? That's what

Michael:

I'm saying? This is no better to you. Then what is it? Let me look here. Let's go too fast. Too furious. Where the fuck is that movie on here. This is no better to you. Then too fast, too furious.

Anthony:

Not for where it's at in the series and what they just did before that and six. That's what helped power what sinks the rating for me? Because, you know, you got me back into the series, and things are going good. And then this movie, and I'm sorry, but that's my feelings on it.

Michael:

I mean, you gave you get you like Fast and Furious for and you gave it a higher score than this. Yeah, but almost the same. Yeah.

Anthony:

Well you don't crack it. Guess what this series is just like every movie. It's a roller coaster, isn't it? So I have my ups and my downs. I got my good days and my bad days. Dom

Michael:

was your bad day. Everybody else off the rails? Man.

Anthony:

That's one I just did not there. Overall, the movie I was like, No, if this does, it didn't work for me. Just say it that way.

Michael:

And the last movie, which is probably the best of the series, you gave it shit. That shit but 15 it didn't work. I mean, yeah, sorry. last movie is better than this one. If you listen to this, trying to find people who appreciate the art of these movies, you obviously didn't get it from one of us.

Anthony:

It's not about the art of the movie. The movie? No, it's good movie. It's about a movie. It could have been good, but it wasn't. You have your opinion. I have mine. It could have been good. It's just it got it. Just like I said it's circumstance but it got pieced together in a way that didn't do it for me.

Michael:

You know what? I'm just gonna leave that there. All right, and I'm gonna let you tell them the things they need to hear.

Anthony:

Okay, you need to stop listening to monkey crack here, because he's just a dick. But you do need to check out our website. Please LIKE subscribe follow us anywhere that other people are at such as the Facebook's. And the Twitter's and the Instagrams. We appreciate you listening. Thank you very much whether you agree with our opinions or not, they are what they are. Yeah, they

Michael:

are. So is that it? Are we done? Or can I now start paying attention to what you're saying again, you can now hit the brakes. Alright, we're out or
